Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium is one of the outstanding stadiums in India and it is located in Motera in Ahmedabad. Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium is generally owned by the Gujarat Cricket Association and it is under the supervision of the aegis of West Zone. This is the largest stadium in Gujarat and this stadium is having the capacity of 54,000 spectators.


This stadium is fully equipped with the floodlights for the day, night fixtures and at this venue the test match and international limited over games also engage in recreation. This ground was formerly named as the Gujarat Stadium, but the stadium was renamed as the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to pay the tribute to the first Home Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister.
This ground is not only hosting the cricket games, but there are also numbers of events organized by the Government of Gujarat. This stadium is also having the right to host the second maximum games in India after the Eden Gardens.
In Eden Gardens there are total 26 ODI’s played and in Motera Stadium 23 ODI’s played and these stats are of the December 2011. At the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, commonly known as Motera also host the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and the quarter-final match was also played here between the India and Australia.

Before this stadium comes into existence the games were played at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s stadium by the same name in Ahmedabad in the Navrangpura side. But in 1982 the government donates the land about 50 acres to build the new stadium at the Bank of the Sabarmati River.
Here at this venue Sunil Gavaskar was the first Indian player that scores 10,000 test runs on this venue and he skilled to accomplish this against the Pakistan team in 1987.
